Walk the Sustainable Fashion Way

Gen Z is after a sustainable fashion, nowadays. All the social media influencers are talking about it. All the actors and actresses are spreading awareness and turning heads with it. What is sustainable fashion, after all? It can be defined as a process or means of fostering change in the fashion world by integrating ecological and social justice into it. The mass media is after spreading awareness about it in order to bring a much due change into the industry.

The idea about sustainable fashion stemmed from the issue when people started going behind the scenes of what goes on as their garments get processed. People started paying more attention to not only the quality of the garments but also the supply change involved behind it. This is what triggered the hashtag ‘sustainable fashion’. Fast fashion is being blamed as a culprit. It typically involves the process of tailoring garments to meet the recent fast fashion trends using cheaper quality of materials. In this process, the environmental corners are compromised. The use of cheap, toxic dyes in the process can prove to be very harmful to the environment.

However, a part of the society have taken themselves out of this fast fashion chain and are now completely aiming towards sustainable fashion. They are now moving towards materials and garments that are more sustainable in the long run. Ditching fabrics like nylon, polyester, and spandex, they are now setting examples by using fibers grown naturally.

Moreover, it is a great way to walk the eco-friendly way. It is a great initiative to reduce your carbon footprint and reduce the number of greenhouse gases emitted into the environment. Choosing sustainable fashion also means contributing to saving animal lives. Over 430 million animals are slaughtered in the leather industry itself which can be prevented. It also opens a door for using less amount of water. Farmers and workers working with dangerous chemicals also get a respite from the toxic chemicals when you choose it. It is our responsibility to pave the way for such fashion so that the rest of the world can follow suit.
